What Happens During a Sclerotherapy Treatment?
Sclerotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat spider veins and small varicose veins. During this procedure, a very fine needle will be used to inject solution into these veins, which causes them to shrink, close, and disappear.

What to Do Before Your Sclerotherapy Treatment
- Shower and wash your legs with antibacterial soap the morning of your procedure.
- Make sure to wear loose fitting clothes and comfortable shoes.
- Talk to your physician about any and all medications you are taking, especially estrogen or birth control pills.
- Bring your compression stockings if you already have them. If not, you will need to purchase a pair for after your treatment.
- Avoid applying lotion to your legs or shaving them before your treatment.

- Don’t drink or smoke for at least 2 days before your appointment. This is important because it may hinder your healing.
