What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy treatment is a minimally invasive, non-surgical method of removing the appearance of varicose and spider veins using injections of a chemical solution known as a ‘sclerosing agent'.

How Sclerotherapy Works

Sclerotherapy is one of the safest vein treatments available today. It’s non-surgical and requires no removal of the skin or tissue. Your medical professional will simply inject a special solution into your vein to induce its collapse and disappearance.

Duration: While the duration of the procedure varies depending on the specific case, typically one sclerotherapy treatment takes 30 minutes and it’s performed in-office.

The number of treatments: Depending on the number of varicose veins you have, you may need 2-3 sessions of this treatment, and occasionally more than this.

Results: Generally, abnormal veins respond to the treatment within 3-6 weeks and larger veins within 3 months. If the veins respond to the treatment, they will not reappear. However, new veins may appear over time and if this happens, you may require additional injections.

 

Am I a Good Candidate For Sclerotherapy Treatment?

Sclerotherapy is an extremely versatile treatment and can be used to treat the concerns of many patients.

• Have spider veins or small varicose veins in their legs
• Are between the ages of 30-60 years
• Have not had blood clotting issues in the past
• Have not been pregnant or given birth in the last 3 months
